Biggest slice of media pie to ANC, DA, EFF

THE ANC‚ DA and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have dominated the media space on the election campaign trail‚ according to research by Media Monitoring Africa.

The three parties collectively enjoyed nearly 80% of the media coverage in the seven weeks leading up to tomorrow's general election. According to a survey conducted by the Sunday Times‚ these will be the three largest political parties in the country in terms of electoral support.

Media Monitoring Africa director William Bird said yesterday media coverage of elections and governance had not only improved in the past 20 years but had become more diverse. However‚ he said‚ much of the media coverage focused on party politics‚ campaign activities and politicians' remarks‚ while sidelining issues such as crime‚ service delivery and education. - Khulekani Magubane
