Man killed in shooting at Bay taxi rank

THREE people were killed and a 13-year-old girl wounded in violent incidents in Nelson Mandela Bay at the weekend, one a brazen shooting at the Govan Mbeki taxi rank yesterday afternoon.
A 34-year-old man was killed and a bystander injured in the shooting.
According to police, the victim, whose name cannot be released until his next of kin have been informed, was shot and killed at the busy taxi rank by four unknown assailants.
Police spokeswoman Sandra Janse van Rensburg said the man had just parked his car in Strand Street close to the taxi rank when he was killed after a Golf pulled up and two occupants got out and started shooting. The victim died at the scene. - Thulani Gqirana
