'Remove ANC branding from school buses'

TELECOMMUNICATIONS giant Siemens has ordered that ANC branding on two buses, which it donated to the Mandela School of Science and Technology in Mvezo, be removed.

As far as the school was aware, Mandla had received permission from Siemens to brand the buses. However, the company yesterday denied this and said it had issued an instruction that all branding be removed.

Siemens, in partnership with the Mvezo Development Trust, built the multimillion-rand school.

It was officially opened by President Jacob Zuma in January this year, is situated in Mvezo, and is the only high school in the area. Two 33-seater buses were given to the school to help transport pupils to and from the school as there is no hostel.

Mandla could not be reached for comment at the time of going to print.

Toni said the buses are in East London for repairs. In the meantime, the school had hired buses to transport pupils. - Sikho Ntshobane
