State accused of siding with PAC faction

PAN Africanist Congress (PAC) president Letlapa Mphahlele has accused state institutions – parliament and the Electoral Commission (IEC) – of siding with the party's other faction, led by Alton Mphethi.

This comes as the warring factions battle over control of the party less than two weeks before the May 7 elections.

Attempts were made to get a comment from parliament, but a response had not been received at the time of going to print. IEC spokeswoman Kate Bopela said she would respond to questions today. - Msindisi Fengu
