Shock end to Easter holiday

STUDENTS and staff at an NMMU department returned from their Easter break yesterday to a nasty surprise – they found that R160000 of hi-tech equipment had been stolen.

The IT equipment was stolen some time during the long weekend, police said yesterday.

Captain Johan Rheeder said students had been using the computers, printers and data projectors on Thursday, so the theft took place over the weekend but it was not known exactly when it occurred.

A security company has offered a reward if the thieves are caught and the equipment recovered. - Chanice Koopman
