No progress in rape case angers mom

WHILE a nine-year-old girl is slowly recovering from an operation she required due to a brutal rape she endured last year, her mother is angry and frustrated as the alleged suspect remains a free man.
The mother, who cannot be identified to protect her daughter, said the man was arrested in July last year, a month after the rape, but had since been released.
The Middelburg woman said her daughter had to undergo three operations as a result of injuries she sustained during the rape. - Lee-Anne Butler
