Gangster problem 'out of control'

A MEMBER of the gang task team testified yesterday how gangsters had taken over Port Elizabeth's northern areas and instilled fear in residents, with innocent bystanders being shot in the process.
Detective Sergeant Peter Swanepoel said police could barely keep up with the number of gang-related incidents in recent months.
He said 19 cases – all involving suspected gang members – had been opened in the past three weeks. - Kathryn Kimberley
