Minister backs shale gas prospects

MINERAL Resources Minister Susan Shabangu yesterday pleaded with Eastern Cape residents to reason with striking mine workers to go back to work.

Addressing a packed Nangoza Jebe Hall in New Brighton, Shabangu said she understood most of the mine workers were from the province. Shabangu was part of President Jacob Zuma's delegation.

"This strike has gone on for a long while and it is hitting our economy. Leaders from here should help us in getting workers back to their jobs." - Mkhululi Ndamase
