Businessman in gun terror

A QUICK-THINKING businessman is lucky to be alive after robbers fired up to 20 shots at him as he drove along a busy Port Elizabeth street in broad daylight yesterday.

The Bangladeshi man, 27, was going from a shop in Durban Road, Korsten, to Makro in Linton Grange to buy stock when his vehicle was ambushed in Malabar.

He “played dead” after the shooting and survived.

Pedestrians and construction workers ran for cover when shots started ringing out at the intersection of Haworthia and Godetia drives, a main entrance to Malabar, at about 1.30pm. - Riaan Marais
