THE home of one of the organisers of a protest march that turned violent in Uitenhage last week has been torched in what he claimed was a retaliation attack. SACP member Thamsanqa Madwara's house in Sinyane Street, KwaLanga, was petrol-bombed at 1.30am yesterday.
His mother, 63, who was alone at home at the time, injured her knee when she jumped out of a window. Yesterday Madwara said his home was the third house belonging to an SACP member to be petrol-bombed since late last year.
Police yesterday confirmed that two homes and a tavern had been burnt down in Uitenhage since Friday.
