Hot new sport all lined up

SLACKLINING, the latest sporting craze taking the world by storm, has finally caught on in Port Elizabeth. The bizarre balancing sport is similar to tight-rope walking but with people performing tricks on nylon webbing.

It is not uncommon to see experienced enthusiasts perform every manner of flips, twists and turns on the line.

On Saturday mornings in Happy Valley, four men can be seen shuffling along a narrow piece of webbing anchored between two trees.

It is believed the four friends are the pioneers of the sport in the area.

It all started when rock climbing buddies Jean de Vos, 23, and Carl Dettmann, 28, stumbled across a slacklining video on the Internet.
