PE dad East Cape's toughest firefighter


A PORT Elizabeth father has emerged as the Eastern Cape's toughest firefighter after a gruelling two-day event in Cape Town.


Springdale father-of-two Saleem Julius, 45, is also the national runner-up after competing against South Africa's top firefighters at the Good Hope Centre at the weekend.


The Toughest Firefighter Alive competition, also known as the "firefighters' Ironman", saw 134 firefighters from various municipalities and the aviation industry battle it out for the title.


The Garden Route's Eden Municipality firefighter Emile Conraad was the overall winner.
