NMMU 'greenie' to expand views in UK

MEETING other young people like herself and visiting some of the world's greatest academic institutions are just some of the things Lisa Weideman is looking forward to this November.

The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) student is one of 17 university students who were selected for the annual Abe Bailey Travel Bursary, which includes a three- week, all-expenses- paid educational tour to the UK.

"It's an amazing opportunity to get to know the culture in the UK ...

"It would also be wonderful to meet other young people who have new and original ideas on how the country should be run," Weideman said.

The Abe Bailey Travel Bursary – which aims to expand the views of young South Africans – includes an intensive educational programme with visits to the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, as well as Edinburgh in Scotland.
