A return to learning rewards farmworker


IT has been a long time since Addo farmworker Nomhle Selani-Jack dropped out of school – more than 20 years, in fact.


But the mother of two has not only gone back to school with classes at Adult Basic Education and Training (Abet), she is also looking forward to training as an Abet facilitator.


Selani-Jack, 41, cried uncontrollably when she heard she had been selected as a finalist in the Agriseta Excellence Awards.


The Sundays River Farming Trust citrus fruit sorter said being part of the Abet programme had opened doors she thought were long closed.
