Mbambisa wants new senior structure

NEWLY appointed acting city manager Mpilo Mbambisa wants the Nelson Mandela Bay council to overturn a decision to hire two deputy city managers and to split senior management into four groups. He said yesterday this would cause "political tensions".

Mbambisa also wants the advertisements in May for 16 senior manager positions set aside.

The overhaul of the city's 10 departments, championed by former mayor Zanoxolo Wayile and later by former city manager Lindiwe Msengana-Ndlela, was supposed to group departments together to speed up service delivery. Council took a decision to approve the new organogram in December.

The organogram was developed by an outside service provider, who worked with the Section 154 support team seconded to the metro by Eastern Cape Local Government MEC Mlibo Qoboshiyane.
