Dreamshade to give Valentine’s a metal edge at Music Kitchen

Swiss band to perform in PE

Swiss modern melodic metal band Dreamshade will perform at Port Elizabeth’s Music Kitchen on Valentine’s Day as part of their SA tour.
The band is set to tour the country from February 13 to 16 alongside Johannesburg band Truth and Its Burden.
Dreamshade returns to Port Elizabeth five years after their last Bay performance at Pool City when they toured SA in 2014.
“Our last tour in SA was so cool that we always wanted to be back to play more shows and we are so happy we now have the chance to do it. We really loved the vibe and the people at our shows. We are really looking forward to these shows,” band member Fernando “Fella” di Cicco said.
Guitarist Luca Magri, drummer Serafino “Sera” Chiommino, vocalist Kevin Calì, guitarist and vocalist Di Cicco and bass guitarist Gian-Andrea Costa make up Dreamshade.
The band was formed in 2006, mixing their melody with heavy and uplifting vocals towards their first EP, To the Edge of Reality, released in 2008.
Eight years and three albums later, their sound continues to be influenced and inspired by various music genres which they fuse to bring about their own sound.
“We really love to listen to a lot of different stuff and then mix it together and see what we come up with. The result is Dreamshade's music. The main focus on our songs has always been great melody and cool riffs,” Di Cicco said.
Some of the band’s favourite SA musicians include Jack Parow and Seether.
Dreamshade’s tours around Europe, North America, Asia and Africa over the years have gained them fans across all four continents, making them known to the average metalhead globally.
Bay fans could expect a party night where the band will perform songs from every one of their albums and all the new singles released in the past year, Di Cicco said.
“Our last time in PE was pure fire! We really didn’t expect such a good turnout, but it was definitely a night to remember. I'd say you can expect a big party night with lots of stage dives and people singing along to our songs! Come have fun with us,” he said.
The band has just returned from a European tour with Don Broco and Emarosa and are looking forward to the SA tour.
“It's been unreal and we met some really incredible people. We are sure that our SA friends will be gifting us with some very special moments and the whole band and crew are incredibly excited for this tour.”
Dreamshade will be at Mercury Live in Cape Town on February 13, the Music Kitchen on February 14, Pretoria’s Arcade Empire on February 15 and Johannesburg’s Rumours Rock City on February 16.
The Music Kitchen show starts at 9pm. Tickets cost R140 at www.plankton.mobi
