Sing-along favourites in Abba tribute
Sequined bellbottoms, platform shoes and sing-along tunes everybody will bob their heads and tap their feet to await disco aficionados of all ages with Centrestage’s smash hit tribute to Sweden’s all-time favourite band, Abba.
After more than a decade, Abba mania is back with a vengeance thanks to Abba: Here We Go Again, the sequel to the hit movie Mama Mia. As last time, it is once more a feel-good revival of the 1970s disco era which offers swashbuckling entertainment.
So Take a Chance on a night filled with glittery costumes, superb stage performances and songs loved throughout the ages. Centrestage’s Abba: Here We Go Again features some of the band’s most beloved numbers, including Waterloo, Super Trooper, Fernando, Money Money and Voulez Vous.
You will be forgiven for feeling a sense of a much happier Stockholm syndrome when original front vocalists Tara-Jane Stern and Caron Strydom belt out touching ballads like The Winner Takes it All, Our Last Summer and I Have a Dream among others.
Partnered on stage with newcomers on vocals Heidi Jansen and Kerry-Lee Jeffery, Centrestage’s approach to Abba: Here We Go Again is impressive and should appeal to all generations.
Joined on stage by James Smith on keyboard, Centrestage stalwarts Andre Strydom on bass and Wayne Kallis on acoustic, along with Fenlin Pietie on keys, Sandy Robbie on lead guitar and Kevin Mattheus on drums, the complex studio vocal arrangements of Abba are skillfully recreated on stage.
After a sold-out run at the Port Elizabeth Opera House in September, Abba: Here We Go Again is on its way to East London for a three-day run from Thursday October 11 to Saturday October 13 with a 2pm matinee on Saturday at the Guild Theatre. Evening shows start at 7.30pm.
Tickets are R160 per person and are on sale at Computicket.
