Young Showtime stars get ready
Auditions for next year’s 29th Woodlands Dairy Showtime Awards young talent development revue, Those Were The Days, will be held at Charlo Primary School hall on Saturday and Sunday July 28 and 29.
On the Saturday at 2.30pm, singers and actors will be auditioned, while on the Sunday, at 2.30pm, they will return, together with specialist dancers (tap dancers should bring tap shoes), for the movement and dance tryouts.
With backing from Humansdorp’s Woodlands Dairy, manufacturers of First Choice products, Showtime will again be presented with Pemads at the Little Theatre.
The shows will run from January 27 to February 2, with the formal junior awards ceremonies on January 23 (high and primary school productions), and main awards on February 1.
Rehearsals will start in early October, during the school holidays, and continue on all subsequent Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons until December 15/16, then cease for resumption on January 2.
The revue is again devised and written by executive producer Bob Eveleigh, who created the Showtime concept 28 years ago.
He is joined by the same production team which handled this year’s Let the Good
Times Roll in director/choreographer Siobhan Day and musical and vocal director Wayne Hughes, with Marlene Pieterse as creative consultant, and Lance Bright and Rocky Mann as technical consultants.
They need a core cast of 12 performers – eight females and four males – aged 14 (turning 15 before January 27) to 22 with as many all-rounders (singers/actors/dancers) as possible included, plus a dance troupe of six girls, who will also sing in ensemble numbers.
