Skinnerbek | Central streets will be quiet too

Hello dolls. I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is that there will be no Alliance Française Street Music Festival this year.
This I found out when the French cultural organisation launched its programme for next year’s festival at the Granary in Richmond Hill last Thursday.
I’m told we’re missing out on some good fun because the director is on maternity leave.
If you feel that this reason is unsatisfactory, you are not alone because, I mean, surely the director wouldn’t have single-handedly brought the festival to life on her own, right?
What use is there having a team if things can’t get done in the leader’s absence?
One can’t help but wonder whether there might be other factors at play.
Anyway, the good news is that next year’s festival programme promises to be bigger and more inclusive, considering that the theme is a celebration of diversity...
