PE duo star in Adele and Buble tribute
The music of Adele and Michael Buble is featured in a new Centrestage production Chartbreaker Heartbreakers, which will be presented at Old Grey tonight.
Featuring the glorious voices of Robynn King and Thuba Myeki, this staging follows their acclaimed initial standing ovation performance at Remo’s last Saturday.
The show contrasts the powerhouse heartbreaking love songs which are the Adele forte and which suit King's voice with the suave, ladies’ man charm of Michael Buble portrayed in effervescent style reminiscent of a young Dean Martin by Myeki.
Debbie Everard accompanies the duo on piano, while Alan Kozak appears on guitar.Adele hits will include the likes of Hello, Chasing Pavements, Someone like You, Skyfall, Turning Tables, Don’t You Remember, When We Were Young, Water Under the Bridge, Rumour Has It and Set Fire to the Rain, while the Buble selection focuses more on his pop hits rather than his big-band material.
Buble hits such as I’m Your Man, Everything, I Believe in You, Beautiful Day, Nobody But Me, Haven’t Met You Yet and Hollywood provide a counterbalance, as Myeki and King reinterpret aspects of the material in duo format as well.
Chartbreaker Heartbreakers marks nine years since Myeki and King first performed together in the Centrestage production Divas are Forever.
Tickets are R120 each (R100 each for eight or more) on sale through Computicket or by calling Wendy on 082-661-6921.
