#NMBFW: Fashion gallery
Nelson Mandela bay Fashion Week highlighted the work of emerging designers in the metro from Thursday to Saturday, October 6 to 8, in nightly shows at the Tramways Building. DAY 1 Tina Ngxokolo Tina Ngxokolo’s Xhosa heritage inspired her range of vibrant colours influenced by Africa Cleo Allison [gallery type="rectangular" columns="4" size="large" ids="176306,176304,176307,176305"] Cleo Allison paired up with accessories designer Kary Meyer to present a relaxed and feminine range for spring and summer in neutrals, coffee and creams Redesyn Store [gallery type="rectangular" columns="4" size="large" ids="176311,176310,176309,176308"] Redesyn Store took denims and put their own twist on them, ripping, tearing and backing with lace inserts Thando Piliso [gallery type="rectangular" columns="4" size="large" ids="176313,176312,176315,176314"] Thando Piliso’s range was eclectic as it featured a mix of styles, textures and fabrics DAY 2 Itu Originals [gallery type="rectangular" columns="4" size="large" ids="176321,176324,176323,176322"] Itu Originals, by Itumeleng Matthews, used Basotho blankets for an autumn/winter range that included novel touches. Matthews created a backpack, for example, using the number plate from his first car Walk in Closet [gallery type="rectangular" columns="4" size="large" ids="176343,176342,176341,176340"] Walk in Closet showed a small range of t-shirts and hoodies Sivu Sota [gallery type="rectangular" columns="4" size="large" ids="176333,176332,176331,176330"] Sivu Sota created a range of silhouettes in a range that include dresses ranging from fluid to structured Masoli [gallery type="rectangular" columns="4" size="large" ids="176326,176327,176328,176329"] Masoli’s range featured fun-fur in black and blue, with a darker palette as the base, and cute mother-and-daughter numbers DAY 3 Mechero [gallery type="rectangular" columns="4" size="large" ids="176354,176352,176353,176351"] Mechero was one of the stand-outs of NMBFW for its fresh pastel take on women’s wear. Designer Busisiwe Sobopha won rail display at The Space at Baywest for her beautifully put together collection. Sobopha squarely hits her target market of 20-30 somethings looking for day and occasion wear. Rufain Wentzell [gallery type="rectangular" columns="4" size="large" ids="176355,176357,176356,176358"] Rufain Wentzell presented a cheeky range of men and women’s clothing. His menswear included red briefs that were a crowd favourite, accessorised with chunky boots and not much else Ergo Zen [gallery type="rectangular" columns="4" size="large" ids="176349,176348,176347,176350"] Ergo Zen was the second stand-out of NMBFW for its multi-faceted collection of men and women’s wear. Designer Nozuko Ngcizela won rail display at The Space at Baywest for the spring summer range of fluid, wearable garments with a message. Each garment was meticulously constructed and ready for retail Zeiciah Mhaule [gallery type="rectangular" columns="4" size="large" ids="176371,176375,176373,176372"] Zeiciah Mhaule brought a pop of colour to her Afro-centric range, with a matching male and female version of each ensemble Thokrish Creations [gallery type="rectangular" columns="4" size="large" ids="176368,176366,176369,176367"] Thokrish Creations used African print to liven up standard shapes. Head wraps and necklaces accessorised many of the garments in the range The Space Sponsor The Space showed garments all three days [gallery type="rectangular" columns="4" size="large" ids="176365,176339,176363,176364,176362,176361,176360,176338"] The Space is a national retail store which stocks South African designs and sent down an extensive range over the three days of NMBFW. Designers included Amanda Laird-Cherry, Miss Moneypenny, Colleen Eitzen and other wearable favourites
