Smokie still going strong

BRITISH pop group Smokie, famous for their chart-topping hit Living Next Door to Alice, gave a smoking hot performance yesterday at the Boardwalk International Convention Centre.

The popular group had hundreds of fans dancing and singing along to their beat.

The Port Elizabeth concert is part of their Take a Minute world tour.

The veteran rockers have been in the music industry for 35 years. They were welcomed on stage with resounding applause and even tried their hand at Afrikaans – much to the delight of the audience.

They performed songs from as far back as 1975.

Colleen Bradfield, 67, said the band had always been one of her favourite groups. "It was brilliant. I enjoyed each and every moment," she said.

The group performed most of their hit songs from Lay Back in the Arms of Someone, Wild Horses and the single Don't Play Your Rock 'n Roll to Me.
