Bay art museum holiday workshops

The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Art Museum will be presenting art and craft workshops during the school holidays, as follows:

Design and create your own mask

Mask making: Come and create your own African Mask on Monday, then leave them to dry for a day and come back on Wednesday, to paint and decorate your mask.

Masks will be inspired by Xhosa designs and will be made with paper mache’ and found objects.

This is a two-day workshop on Monday December 10 and Wednesday December 12 (R40 cash, per child for both days).

Fabric painting

Paint and print patterns on Fabric: Patterns inspired by traditional Xhosa beadwork will be created using stencils and block printing.

This is a one-day workshop offered on Thursday, December 13 or on Friday, December 14 (R30 cash, per child, per day).

Beading patterns

Draw patterns and decorate it with beads.This is a one-day workshop offered on Wednesday December 19 or on Thursday December 20 (R30 cash, per child, per day).

The times are 9am to midday on the dates above and the age range is from seven to 16. All materials will be provided but please bring along an apron or old clothes and your own packed lunches.

Booking is essential as only a limited number of children can be accommodated in each workshop.
