Black Friday mania as Judy Boucher, Sybil head for Bay

Ticket price cuts for shows by top US acts

Black Friday has spread to the entertainment world, with the promoters of Sybil Live offering cut-price tickets on Friday, Saturday and Sunday November 23 to 25.
The open-air show is scheduled to take place on Saturday December 1 on the lawns at Port Elizabeth’s Boardwalk.
Sybil Live stars American R&B and pop singer-songwriter Sybil Lynch and Caribbean reggae and R&B singer Judy Boucher.
Marmalade Productions and CB Entertainment are presenting a “buy one, get one free” for the first 25 tickets sold on each of the three days this week, starting at 8am on Friday and continuing until Sunday at 8pm.
DJ Eazy E, Chapter Three and Melissa Allison will be the supporting acts and Cape Town’s Camillo Lombard and band will accompany all the main performers.
PE singer, songwriter and actress Allison was runner-up in the South African reality TV series Idols Season 8 and has a role on the etv soapie Scandal.
Now 25, she first hit the headlines 10 years ago when she made the top 12 in the M-Net competition High School Musical: Spotlight South Africa.
That show toured the country and Asia for three years, with Allison the understudy and alternate lead for the character Gabriella Montez.
She has also taken part in other theatre productions and corporate events, and worked with Danny K, Loyiso and the Bala Brothers as well as artists such as Liquideep, Zubs and Heartbeat Cafe.
DJ Eazy E’s blend of house music is a hit with festive season crowds, while Chapter Three is a three-man vocal group which sings material ranging from the Motown hits of the 1970s to chart-busting singles of today.
The show is from 4 to 10pm.
There are restrictions on what may be taken to the concert grounds with picnic blankets permitted but no food or drink to be brought in from outside. Chairs, folding chairs, picnic baskets, drugs, weapons, cooler bags, glass objects, cameras and any recording devices are prohibited.
Tickets are on sale at Computicket and range from R250 for general access to R450 for the “golden circle”.
