Ikati Esengxoweni will perform at PE Opera House

Clique Claq, Poetic Soul and others also on Mamela Arts Festival lineup this weekend


Nelson Mandela Bay group Ikati Esengxoweni is headlining a packed programme at the Mamela Arts Festival at the PE Opera House on Saturday, September 8.
The Eastern Cape department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture is hosting its Mamela Arts Festival 2018 on the Main Stage from 6pm. Entrance is free.
“We were invited by Dsrac offical Dawn Madolo to partake last year and open for MXO. This year, due to popular demand, we were requested to return as the main act,” said Lark Wantu of Ikati Esengxoweni.
The programme for Saturday is as follows:
6 to 6.35pm: The Cotton Fields
6.40 to 7.15pm: Mahesh Narotam and friends
7.2o to 7.55pm: Poetic Soul
8 to 8.35pm: Clique Claq
8.40 to 9.25pm: Ikati Esengxoweni
9.30 to 10.15pm: Edgar Kaye Muzah and friends
10.20 to 11.05pm: Nomabotwe
Wantu said there had been several developments in the band’s career since it performed in Mamela last year.
“Our track Ting Ting, was featured on an internationally acclaimed DSTV Mzansi Magic South African TV drama series Lockdown Season 3, on both Episode 3 & Episode 4,” said Wantu.
Ikati Esengxoweni also appeared on SABC1 television show Selimathunzi in July 2018.
“Selimathunzi had a camera crew in Barcelona at Primavera Pro 2018 and shot clips from our performances at the International Music Festival,” said Wantu.
