'P!nk 4 Pink' tribute for breast cancer charity

Niqui Cloete-Barrass and Leandra Grobler team up for Port Elizabeth rock show

It’s time for an evening of music, upliftment and witty anecdotes from Niqui Cloete-Barrass and Leandra Grobler at P!nk 4 Pink on September 6 and 7 at Elizabeth Place in Newton Park.
In the show, Boost Creative Solutions and two artistes pay tribute to the legendary femme rock icon P!nk with radio hits such as So What?; I’m still a Rockstar!; Just Give Me a Reason; and Beautiful Trauma, as well as soul-feeding numbers such as Glitter in the Air; I Don’t Believe You and Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken.
The versatile Cloete-Barrass has earned her stripes in Port Elizabeth as a vocalist, actress and comedienne, with five awards for best actress and six for best cabaret artist.
She is a popular voice artist on Algoa FM and has featured in a number of national TV commercials.
Grobler wields her guitar for the girl duo Letters From Jane at  venues around the Bay and also has claimed trophies at various band competitions in the region.
But, if you know Cloete-Barrass and her entertainment company Boost Creative Solutions, you won’t be surprised if a hilarious parody version pops up in the mix.
Why P!nk?
The Pennsylvania-born singer – real name Alecia Beth Moore – is named after the character Mr Pink in the violent Tarantino movie Reservoir Dogs, a film she saw as a teenager, and the moniker stuck.
The unconventional spelling with an exclamation mark in place of the “i” is a sign of her rebellious streak, which comes out in her larger-than-life songs.
Boost Creative Solutions will give 10% of the show proceeds to a breast cancer awareness charity, hence the title P!nk 4 Pink.
The show is at 7 for 7.30pm on the Thursday and Friday at the venue in Pickering Park and tickets cost R100. There are meal options and a cash bar.
