FAW completes first Africa export order

FAW has exported five trucks assembled in the Eastern Cape to a dealership in Kenya.

The first shipment produced in Port Elizabeth for the African market comes just six months after President Jacob Zuma opened the company’s first South African vehicle assembly plant in the Coega industrial development zone.

The R600-million investment is considered one of the largest by a Chinese company in South Africa to date.

Although the first shipment of five trucks seems relatively small, the company plans to ramp up exports to about 15 units a month from March or April.
