Employment index figures mostly flat

THE economy shed 1163 jobs last month with the biggest losses occurring in temporary work‚ the Adcorp employment index released yesterday showed.
The monthly index‚ which measures both private and public sector jobs‚ showed employment figures were largely flat last month.
Significant job losses were observed in manufacturing and wholesale and retail trade‚ while only the public sector created jobs amounting to 5000 in government and 4000 in state-owned enterprises.
The informal sector created 1911 jobs. Among occupations‚ only professional occupations created jobs (8000). – BDlive
