THE principal, staff, school governing body and our parents have over the years learnt that we can only face the enormous challenges in education as a united front to achieve our mandate of teaching and learning.
At all times we strive to live up to our mission and vision statement: “We at Gelvandale Primary School, together with all stakeholders, take pride in a valued, disciplined educational environment that encompasses academic excellence, sport and cultural diversity through an active and vibrant atmosphere conducive to learning’’.
Building sound relationships is a vital focus point on our agenda because we believe in team efforts and not running a solo agenda.
Just a month ago we tackled our foundation phase ablution block, which desperately needed a complete make-over as the many quick-fixes were no longer effective.
The open door policy of the principal and senior management staff creates an atmosphere of trust, transparency and a sense of belonging among all our stakeholders.
We have also formed strong bonds with all local role players in the community namely the police, social workers, clinic, library, spiritual leaders, councillors, SANCA, Childline, our EDO and the Department of Education. Investing in these relationships has proven to be a major contributing factor in our success story.
