HIGH school pupils from all over the metro exchanged their school uniforms for glitz and glamour to participate in the Mr and Ms High Schools Port Elizabeth pageant.
The star-studded event took place on March 28 at the St Thomas Senior Secondary School auditorium in Gelvandale.
Co-organiser Zeno Bellairs said the events team put together an entertainment line-up which ensured that “the audience was exhilarated till the very last moment when the pageant winners were announced”.
Judging the event were Bay FM DJ and model Leah Moodley, Mr Port Elizabeth 2012 Garneth Jaggers and Nicole Baartman, a beauty consultant at Foshini.
After extensive deliberation, judges selected the contestants who stood out for them.
The winners of the “personality” section of the competition were Clarke Herman (St Thomas High School) and Gabi Baatjes (Alexander Road High School).
First princess was Tazmin Mohammed (St Thomas), second princess was Jodie Small (Victoria Park High School). First prince was Richard Isaacs (Alexander Road High School) and second prince was Sibabalwe Maqabangqa (Lawson Brown High School).
The overall winners were Caleb Human (Lawson Brown High School) and Tamzin Howard (Pearson High School).
They won spa vouchers, an SB Photograhy photoshoot voucher, a gym contract for one month for winner and a friend, Samsung Galaxy pocket watches, starter packs, airtime vouchers and Clinique hampers courtesy of Foshini.
“We worked tirelessly to ensure that the evening was memorable for all who attended and are grateful for all the sponsors. It is rewarding to see the youth participating in constructive activities,” Bellairs said.
