GREY High rounded off a rousing programme on the opening day of the Standard Bank Grey Rugby Festival when they outplayed Kearsney 23-7 in windy conditions in the final match of the day on Saturday.
The hosts were full value for the victory, virtually camping in the Kearsney half after conceding an early try due to some smart play by the KZN team’s flyhalf, Tristan Tedder.
Hudson Park and Pearson provided an entertaining start to the day, with Hudson holding on to win 12-10 after the PE side scored a late try, while Ithembelihle showed they were learning all the time, producing a better second half in going down 31-17 to lively Argentine side La Plata.
The most exciting match of the day came on the Pollock Oval when Louis Botha Tech, from Bloemfontein, snatched a 23-20 victory against Kingswood with a try in the dying stages.
