Chippa United coach Dan “Dance” Malesela is happy that his troops were able to find the back of the net four times during their 4-1 win against Baroka in their PSL fixture at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.
Goals from Marc van Heerden, David Zulu, Mbulelo Wambi and Thembinkosi Lorch saw Chippa keep their unbeaten run in the league.
Chippa have recorded two wins and one draw in their three league fixtures so far.
Ahead of the match, Malesela said his biggest headache was his strike force.
He said scoring was not an issue but the problem lay more in the decision-making in front of goal.
But the Chilli Boys seem to have made all the right decisions on Wednesday night against newly promoted Baroka.
“I do not want to place a lot of pressure on an individual player and say ‘you are a striker, you need to score’,” Malesela said.
“We have a left back, a winger, a striker and a midfielder who scored. So, it’s a variety of people. There were goals from all departments and that’s how it should go.
“The team has an opportunity of scoring goals, everybody can score and we proved that on Wednesday night,” he said.
“We still have a lot to do and we can still score more goals if we put our heads right.”
The coach was, however, unhappy with the fact that their opponents had sneaked in one goal.
“I am very disappointed that we conceded a goal. I hear Diamond [Thopola] was pushed before the goal was scored but these things happen in football. It’s not a big issue maybe because we won, but we still had a chance to keep a clean sheet.”
Malesela conceded their trip to Polokwane was not all smooth sailing and he was surprised his players were able to deliver.
The bus that Chippa were travelling in broke down.
It took them 1½ hours to get back on the road again which, according to the coach, disrupted their plans.
“The following day we spent the entire day in the heat which is something that we are not used to. The first time we had a session was on the day of the match, but very lightly just to loosen up.
“It’s not easy to go to these parts and really be able to deliver on the day, but because we know what we want to achieve we made it happen,” he said.
