Strydom nearly missed out on big race victory
He was the July winner who almost was not. Port Elizabeth-born champion jockey Piere “Striker” Strydom claimed a record-equalling fourth win when he guided The Conglomerate – a ride he initially was not keen on – to victory in the Durban July at the Greyville racecourse on Saturday.
