AmaTuks dispel Nengomasha deal

FORMER Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha will not be offered a deal by University of Pretoria despite recent reports to the contrary. The 33-year-old, who has more than 350 Premier Soccer League appearances since making his debut in South Africa’s top flight league in 2001-02 in Amakhosi colours, was training with the Tshwane side before the end of the year and, initially, reports suggested that he could be offered a deal. However, AmaTuks coach Sammy Troughton confirmed that the team was “full” in Nengomasha’s position, which is defensive midfielder. “He hasn’t come back. We are quite full in that position and they [management] haven’t offered anything,” Troughton said.

The team’s players who can play in the position include Ronald Ketjijere and Vuyisile Ntombayithethi. Meanwhile, Troughton’s future has been a subject of debate with the team occupying 15th position with just six points from 11 league matches. To make matters worse, they have scored the lowest number of goals in the league with just five on their goals for column. Troughton, though, says his future is the last thing on his mind as AmaTuks look to turn things around in the New Year. “We haven’t met with management, because they are coming back on Wednesday. At the moment we are preparing the team for the match against Cosmos,” he said.
