WELL-KNOWN northern areas sports administrator and former Evening Post sports reporter Peter Clarke, 80, died of kidney failure at the Mercantile Hospital last week.

Born in Sidwell, Clarke attended St Monica’s Primary and South End High before finishing his schooling at Paterson High.

A useful all-rounder, he played cricket for St Marks and Violets, with more than a passing interest in rugby.

But journalism was his passion and he started off as a correspondent with the Evening Post and Rapport while employed at Sharp Control. He left the company in 1982 to follow his passion with the Evening Post Extra.
