Madibaz attacker part of SA squad for World League event
AFTER a stellar season last year, when he made his national debut, NMMU Madibaz attacker Ignatius Malgraff has kept his career on the right path by being included in the South Africa team for the World League Round two tournament in Cape Town, starting on Saturday.
The EP player was this week named in an 18-strong squad for the tournament following a camp in Cape Town, with the selectors identifying the form players as their frontline choices.
“We have just finished a very long training camp in Cape Town [from February 19] and indicated to the group from the outset that selection [for WLR2] would be based on form,” coach Fabian Gregory said. “Everyone put their hands up and performed, so choosing the final 18 was really difficult, but the selection panel is confident we have the players and combinations to do well at this World League tournament.”
Malgraff will be delighted with his inclusion, knowing that he is still looking to establish himself as a permanent cog in the national set-up.
