Kings silent over Mouneimne as team finalises preparations for Vodacom Cup

WITH their opening match only 10 days away, there is still uncertainty as to whether defence coach Omar Mouneimne will be pitch-side when the EP Kings face the Free State Cheetahs in a friendly match next week.

A storm burst last week when Eastern Province Rugby chief Charl Crous confirmed that Mouneimne had been approached by French team Lyon to possibly assist them on a consultancy basis.

French websites have reported that Mouneimne, who helped the World XV prepare for their game against the Springboks at Newlands last year, is expected in France this week to take up a position as a consultant for two months.

This is a matter the Kings will want to resolve as soon as possible as they make final preparations for their new campaign.

Defence was a major headache for the Kings last season. They leaked a massive 53 tries during 10 matches in the Currie Cup Premier Division.
