THE runs continued to flow off the bat of Roelof van der Merwe as the Titans took the honours on day one of their Sunfoil Series match against Chevrolet Warriors at St George’s Park yesterday.
Van der Merwe came into the match as the competition’s leading runs-scorer and took his aggregate past the 600-run mark with an unbeaten innings of 83 yesterday.
He has already scored a double hundred and another hundred this season and will be looking to add another three-figure landmark to his name this morning.
The Titans finished the day on 337 for five wickets with Van der Merwe and David Wiese (66) at the crease.
They will look to continue their work with the bat today while the Warriors will want quick wickets to keep themselves in the hunt for a third consecutive victory in this competition.
The Titans won the toss and elected to bat. Basheer Walters made the early breakthrough dismissing Dean Elgar, caught and bowled for 13. But after that, wickets proved tough to come by especially with the form the talented number three Theunis de Bruyn was in.
