THE Chevrolet Warriors will look to land some telling early blows when they host the Titans in a Sunfoil Series cricket fixture starting at St George’s Park today (10am).
The intent was clear when caretaker coach Malibongwe Maketa addressed local media at the ground yesterday.
It appears the days of waiting for the opposition to make the first move are gone.
The Warriors have been playing a confident brand of cricket under Maketa in the last two months, losing only one match in eight.
The coach says his team want to strike early against a Titans team fresh from winning the Momentum One-Day Cup.
“We are right up there in this competition and in with a chance to win it,” Maketa said.
“Our last two games were really, really good. We’ve given ourselves a chance and we don’t take that for granted. It’s all about who throws the first punch on Thursday.”
