Pearson held a successful inter-house athletics meeting at NMMU last week, with 11 records broken on the day.
The new records belong to the following athletes: Jessica Beukes (1 500m), Amy van Vuuren (high jump), Britney van der Merwe (javelin), Jesse Fourie (100m), Lisa Venter (1 500m), and Thomas Adams (shot put). Five relay records were broken. Trophies awarded: Junior sprinter, best U15 athlete and best overall performance by a girl: Jesse Fourie;
Senior sprinters: Jode Fourie and Ivan Joubert;
Best girls’ field event: Lisa Venter and Amy van der Merwe;
Best boys’ field event: Keagan van Dyk and Thomas Adams;
Best middle-distance athlete: Jessica Beukes;
Best overall performance by a boy: Ivan Joubert;
Most points for team by a girl: Britney van der Merwe;
Most points for team by a boy: Ivan Joubert and Dylan Eggberry.
Deary House were the overall winners of the day.
Pearson’s athletes also showed their form at last week’s zonal meeting at the Westbourne Oval.
They obtained 71 first places, 56 second places and 55 third places. A total of 110 Pearson athletes qualified to take part in the PE High Schools meeting.
