First Diski Challenge will have all-Tshwane final
The maiden MultiChoice Diski Challenge final will be an all-Tshwane affair between Mamelodi Sundowns and University of Pretoria on February 28.
This follows their respective victories during the semifinals at the Wolfson Stadium in Kwazakhele, Port Elizabeth, yesterday.
Kwazakhele football lovers were treated to a scintillating football feast during the backto-back matches.
The Bay fans came out in their numbers, almost filling the stadium, and were in jubilant mood even before the first game.
In the first semi, University of Pretoria collided head-on with SuperSport United in a tightly contested Pretoria derby.
But it was AmaTuks who were the last men standing when the game, which ended 1-1, was decided 3-2 on penalties.
United missed three while their rivals missed two, paving their way to the finals on February 28 in Gauteng.
The students’ head coach, Slye Mosala, admitted after the game that his side were lucky to be victors since their neighbours dominated the game.
“Penalties are anybody’s game and there’s also a luck factor that plays a part when a game gets to that stage and I think we benefited from that in this game,” a visibly delighted Mosala said.
