After losing the Twenty20 knockout cricket fixture to St Andrew’s, Kingswood bounced back to defeat their Grahamstown rivals by six wickets at the weekend.
With plenty of rain in the week building up to the fixture, Kingswood decided to bowl, hoping there would be some moisture in the wicket. They did not test the opening batsmen as much as they should have with the new ball and only a silly run out gave them a breakthrough.
Thereafter, Kingswood managed to build some pressure with tight bowling, while Jimmy Sholto-Douglas had a big impact on the game, swinging the ball late to pick up three quick wickets for just two runs as St Andrew’s slipped to 37/4.
Gordon Everard (46) then batted superbly to steer St Andrew’s out of immediate danger before Brad Haller made the next breakthrough.
