Chance for Callies to close gap on Ideas

It could be the last throw of the dice for Callies tomorrow when they play log-leaders Young Ideas in the final firstround Safa-NMB SAB League fixture at the NU9 Stadium in Motherwell.

After losing 4-3 to Showvillage United last week, Callies trail Ideas by eight points.

Defeat could be the beginning of the end for their title aspirations, especially with Fairview Rovers and Lion City between them and the log leaders. Callies coach Monier Saffodien is well aware of the task ahead.

“It could be our last chance and we will give it our best shot,” Safodien said. “Last week we made too many mistakes and threw the game away.

“We have to make amends [tomorrow]. If we minimise our mistakes I am sure of a positive [winning] result.”

Callies’ biggest problem is their defence. While their forwards have scored 16 goals in their last four matches, their defenders have let in 11.
