The EP Kings’ first home game of the season at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on March 21 will be against Griquas after the Kenyan Tusker Simbas withdrew from this year’s Vodacom Cup because of financial reasons.
Griquas have now moved from the North Section to the South Section to take the place of the Kenyans and will play the Kings in the Port Elizabeth season opener.
The Kenyans had to withdraw from all games because they did not have the financial resources to field a team.
“It’s a pity that Kenya decided to withdraw, but we respect their decision,” SA Rugby chief executive Jurie Roux said.
