Warriors ex-captain to play for EP against North West after surgery
Former Chevrolet Warriors cricket captain Davy Jacobs will return to action next week after almost a year on the sidelines. Jacobs, 32, will make his sixth career comeback when he plays for Eastern Province against North West in Port Elizabeth starting next Thursday.
The attacking, right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman has been dogged by injuries over the past four years including hip, ankle, shoulder and wrist (twice) surgeries. His latest runin with the surgeon’s knife was a thumb operation before the start of the season from which he has just about recovered.
Almost 12 months have passed since his last match, a first-class fixture against the Knights in Bloemfontein, last February.
He was hoping to get back into action in the Momentum One-Day Cup for the Warriors against the Dolphins at St George’s Park on Friday but will have to wait another week for the EP game.
