Grey bowler takes all 10 scalps against Rondebosch.
There were some remarkable performances by several Grey High players when they took on Cape Town school Rondebosch in a cricket derby day in Port Elizabeth at the weekend.
Playing for the Grey second team, twins Jason and Bryce Howarth produced a family double in a decisive victory.
First Jason scored a fluent 76 as his team accumulated 233/9 in the first innings of their declaration match.
Then right-arm seamer Bryce took over to achieve the amazing performance of claiming all the Rondebosch wickets. He ended up with 10 wickets for 11 runs as the Cape Town school were bundled out for a lowly 47.
In the Colts A match, Nick Fowler enjoyed a red-letter day too, coming close to emulating Bryce’s effort with a remarkable analysis of 22-10-26-9.
In a low-scoring match, Grey Colts were dismissed for just 89, but then Fowler took over to bowl his team to victory by four runs with eight balls remaining. THE Grey first XI had an interesting two-day encounter against Rondebosch, eventually losing by 41 runs.
