SOUTH Africa’s World Cup qualifying campaign will kick off in November with a tough two-legged assignment against Angola that Bafana Bafana must get through if they are to advance to the final group phase of their bid to qualify for Russia 2018.

The weekend World Cup preliminaries draw in St Petersburg gave Shakes Mashaba’s team a difficult assignment, although South Africa are unbeaten in eight previous meetings with their regional rivals.

Bafana have beaten Palancas Negras five times and drawn their other three meetings. This includes a 2-1 win in Cape Town in a low-key friendly just over a month ago.

In Group D, Spain and Italy meet in a repeat of the Euro 2012 final which Vicente del Bosque’s men won 4-0. -Mark Gleeson
