Captain confident of improved teamwork

CHIPPA United captain James Okwuosa says the team are more determined than ever to collect all three points when they face highflying Mamelodi Sundowns in a Premier Soccer League fixture at Loftus stadium tonight (7.30pm).

Chippa are still chasing their first win of the year, and their first under new coach Ernst Middendorp, but Okwuosa believes they are very close to pulling it off.

“The team prepared well . . . and look ready for the game,” he said.

“Every game is important as there are three points up for grabs in each game. We cannot lose.

“We have to try and get the three points, which is the most important thing. Even though we are not getting good results, we keep fighting to get them.”

The Nigerian defender said last week the team lacked confidence this year and that had resulted in their not getting positive results.

“After Friday’s game, and the way things are going now, I think we are moving in the right direction in terms of putting our heads together, working together and just trying to make sure we get the points we need. We remain in the PSL but need to lift our team from the bottom.”
