Uitenhage to test Old Grey’s title credentials

Seaman's Renault Old Grey face another test of their title credentials when they travel to play Buco Uitenhage in an NMB Premier League cricket fixture on Sunday.

Old Grey have been the side to beat this season, being the only team who have not lost.

With their likely challengers for league honours, Mecer NMMU 1, not in action this weekend, Old Grey will have another chance to pull further ahead with a victory over Uitenhage.

However, Uitenhage have proved in recent seasons that they are no pushovers, especially at home, and a keenly contested game is expected.

Madibaz 2 play a double-header this weekend. They will be hosted by SuperSpar Despatch tomorrow and then return to the campus for a fixture against Welcome.

Another game which should attract attention is that between Gelvandale and SA Home Loans Union at the Gelvan Playing Fields on Sunday.

The fixtures for this weekend are (home teams first, 10am start): Tomorrow: Northville v Welcome, SuperSpar Despatch v Mecer Madibaz 2 Sunday: Gelvandale v SA Home Loans Union, Madibaz 2 v Welcome, Buco Uitenhage v Seaman’s Renault Old Grey THE latest log, according to the logkeeper, is (five matches unless stated): 1 Seaman’s Renault Old Grey 35 (7), 2 EmediaIT Heatherbank 24 (7), 3 Mecer Madibaz 1 25, 4 SA Home Loans Union 24 (6), 5 Madibaz 2 23 (6), 6 Buco Uitenhage 19, 7 United Brothers 18 (6), 8 PECC 18 (7), 9 Gelvandale 17 (6), 10 Superspar Despatch 5, 11 Northville 5 (6), 12 Rhodes 0 (1), 13 Welcome 0 (4)
