Clash with rivals Real City produces few sparks.

Highbury resumed their championship campaign with a dull performance when they drew 1-1 against archrivals Real City in a Safa Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe Second Division league match at the NU9 Stadium in Motherwell on Saturday.

Home side City scored first through a ball by Olwethu Mzizana in the sixth minute of the game to put his team in the lead but Highbury’s Abdul Feidu equalised in the 30th minute.

The Motherwell-based side were determined to collect the full points from the onset of the match but they failed to extend their lead.

Highbury’s goalkeeper performed well to deny City from scoring as he saved several direct shots.

City played very well to maintain their record of not losing against their neighbours.

City manager Siviwe Mahambhehlala said his charges controlled the first stanza of the game but the players lost concentration towards the break.

“The players performed according to the coach’s instructions and we scored an early goal but we allowed them to come back before the break.

“We are not happy with the one point because our intention was to collect the maximum points.
